Gibson Kids Farmstead

Gibson Kids Farmstead

Experience the heartwarming world of rescued animals who inspired the main characters in Maggie’s children’s books.

JoJo gets a Job

JoJo's journey to becoming a therapy dog is one of love and second chances. After his original owner passed away, JoJo faced the uncertainty of being sent to an animal shelter. Maggie stepped in, rescuing him during a time of deep loss. In the days that followed, JoJo mourned quietly, withdrawn and heartbroken. Maggie stayed by his side through it all, offering him the same steady care and compassion, she gives her client's. Through that bond, JoJo slowly rediscovered the sense of purpose.

Inspired by their story and the many children they've helped, Maggie wrote her first children's book to celebrate dogs like JoJo - those who may not fit expectations but still have something deeply meaningful to offer. Her storytelling reflects her professional insight and personal experiences, blending heartwarming narratives with messages of self-acceptance, purpose and connection.

Through her writing, her farm, and her work, Maggie Gibson continues to make a difference - one child, one story, and one wagging tail at a time.

Meet the Animals

Woodrow Red Highland Cow
Saydee and Edik rescued siblings

Meet Samantha, our newest farm resident. A resilient potbelly pig, she survived a heartbreaking past of severe abuse and neglect before being rescued. Though she once faced terrible hardship, that difficult chapter is over. Samantha now thrives in her forever home, living her very best life.

The Highland Cows

These calm, gentle giants create a tranquil atmosphere and offer a peaceful escape for all our visitors. Our farm is home to three unique Highlands. Woodrow, a sweet red steer, bears visible scars from a briar thicket accident during his calfhood. Pip is a beautiful dunn heifer with a petite stature who is currently expecting her very first calf. Then there is Gilbert, a striking black bull who thoroughly enjoys affection and back scratches.

While JoJo has passed on, his legacy lives through two fellow rescues. This inseparable pair was born in a local shelter and has remained by Maggie’s side since they were pups. They provided comfort through her darkest times, leading her to wonder who truly saved whom. These loyal companions are ready to share your secrets and greet you with joy and kisses.

Farm Stories

Unlikely Duo

Samantha the pig and Coco, a blind mini goat, are frequently seen cuddling. Instinctively aware of Coco’s lack of sight, Samantha gently nudges her away from hazards like the weed eater. In return, Coco provides the companionship Samantha needs to heal from her traumatic past.

Cow Cuddles

Our Highland cows love to nap in the shade. We often find them curled up along the tree line or in the barn, resting under the big fan. Gilbert the black bull likes to pretend he has escaped while he is really just hiding in the shadows. Gilbert and Woodrow are named after Maggie's dad who had a dairy farm in North Carolina.

Pawsome Duo

These two rescues are from the same litter and have never been separated. They may bark to warn Maggie when you pull into the driveway, but then they’ll greet you with licks and happy tail wags.

You never know what you will see...

Our land teems with nature. Deer graze on fresh peaches and pears from our friuit trees. Large crawdads, fish, and turtles thrive in the three ponds, while various birds try to snag blueberries before the harvest begins.
